Healthy Snacks

Another food post from me today! We all love food and we all love eating but eating the right thing is the difficult part! Now, there's nothing wrong with the occasional chocolate bar, slice of cake, or pizza but when you're trying to reach a goal, it's important you eat the right things to help you!

How to change your mindset

Not enough people realise that you will never be happy with your body unless you change your mindset or your negative body image. No matter how much fat you lose or muscle you gain, unless you learn to love your body, you will not be happy with it!

Here are some of my tips on how to improve your body image:

'I don't want to lift because I don't want to get bulky'

People, specifically girls, have said this to me quite a few times and it really annoys me, 1. because it makes me think that they think I look bad (I'm working on not caring what other people think), 2. because its not going to happen and 3. this is shaming other peoples bodies, there are women out there who probably are what they would class as 'bulky' but they love how they look and they definitely do not look bad!

It is not physically possible for women to get as big & muscly as guys, we're not made up the same!! Women out there who are that big and muscly are most likely on steroids(which also isn't necessarily a bad thing, it still takes time and effort, people have different goals)! Also it's not like building muscle is that quick or easy to do, they act like if they pick up a weight once, they're suddenly looking huge!

How to admit you're struggling

I know that in the fitness industry there are so many people who have used fitness to overcome some sort of struggle, whether it be an eating disorder, depression, or any other kind of struggle, myself included. I also know that there is a lot of pressure, particularly on 'fitness influencers', or people with large followings, to always be positive, always have good advice, and always be coping well with everything that they're doing. This post isn't just for them (especially seeing as they won't ever read it haha) but for everyone who is struggling, or anyone who has their bad days/weeks/months etc, anyone who finds it hard to admit that they're not doing 100%!

Let's talk supplements. Now I just have to start off by saying that they are by no means necessary! You can make so much progress without them and if they're not something you can really afford, definitely do not worry about not using them! They obviously do have their benefits otherwise people wouldn't take them, but as I said, you can make a good amount of progress without them! There is so much information on them on the internet so I'm not going to go into too much detail, but here are the supplements that I currently take and what they're for:

The truth about diet culture

Diet culture in the media is one of the most ridiculous and frustrating things to ever exist. Magazines are always printing their 'new top tips for weight loss' or how you can 'follow this diet and lose X amount in a week'! It's one of the most frustrating things because people believe it! People who are after quick fixes, they believe what the media tells them on what they need to do because their body isn't good enough! The people who spread these lies in the media, including online social media, really should wise up and stop because they're a massive contributor to the high numbers of eating disorders and mental illnesses within women and men!
