10 things that have made me happy this week

I love reading Rosie's posts in her series '10 things that've made me happy this week' so as this week I have been doing lots of interesting things I thought I would share 10 things that have made me happy this week.
This week has been half term, obviously not for me because I'm on my gap year but for my younger brother and my mum (she's a teaching assistant) and my dad took the week off work.
Usually in this week we go skiing but for multiple reasons we didn't this year so we decided to make it as fun as we could.

1. Going to the cinema with my family to see Jupiter Ascending. We haven't been to the cinema together for ages and it was such a lovely evening. We went for dinner at Bella Italia afterwards.

2. Meeting up with one of my closest friends for coffee. She's at Reading Uni at the moment so I don't get to see her that often.

3. Going to Brighton with my parents. Walking round the lanes is always lovely, and on the pier we decided to go on the bumper cars which was a lot of fun! Also, there's the cutest little cake shop in Brighton which sells gluten free cupcakes! (picture in the collage above)

4. Relaxing and pampering myself. I bought a bath bomb from lush recently and so I lit some candles, put on some relaxing music and had a nice bath. When I got out I put on a face mask and read my book. I felt so chilled and good afterwards!

5. Going to London Zoo! Most importantly, seeing the penguins there! I will post more about that next time.

6. Going to the theatre in London. We saw The Commitments, and although we were quite far back and so felt out of the atmosphere and we felt there wasn't much of a story line, it was a lot of fun and the songs were great!

7. On Thursday, me, my brother and my dad went bowling! We haven't been in so long but it was a lot of fun. Both my brother and I got strikes on our first goes!

8. On Friday we went up to London again and this time we went to the Natural History Museum, it was very crowded and hectic but still very interesting and fun. We then wondered around Covent Garden.

9. Making our way through the X-men films. As a family we decided that, as we wanted to watch the new x-men films, we should start from the beginning and make our way through them. We're nearly finished now though!

10. I have organised to go visit my sister at Uni next week, from Wednesday to Saturday, so I am excited about that! One of my friends from school also goes to the same Uni so I will hopefully see her then too!

For now, thank you and goodbye,

Fitness Motivation

I've seen quite a few comments on my previous fitness posts (here, here and here) of people saying that they wished that they had more motivation to work out and stay healthy so I thought I would share some tips of how I stay motivated!

In the past I've really struggled with my body image and with food issues, but about a year ago I decided that I need to be healthier, mentally and physically. I started going to the gym more often with my sister, at first I was just doing cardio because I didn't know anything else. As I got more into my fitness journey I did more research and with my sisters help (she started doing more at Uni) I started doing more weights and now my workout consists of mainly weights.
I find exercise a really good stress release.

The main source of my motivation comes from tumblr, there's a whole lovely fitness community on there who you can talk to, ask advice and who can help you stay motivated!

I've also created a fitness planner where I keep note of everything I've eaten and drunk each day, what workouts I have done and how I'm feeling. On some of the pages I have created motivational pages:

First motivational page done 😊💪Next two motivational pages done!

Something else I use for motivation is Pinterest, there are so many great pictures, tips and recipes on there which are great!

I've found that having a motivational background on my phone has helped because it's something that I look at all the time and its just that extra reminder that I need. My current one says 'I may not be the strongest, I may not be the fastest but I'll be darned if I'm not trying my hardest'. The picture I found on tumblr.

  • The more that you work out, the more that it becomes a habit and then the more that you enjoy it.
  • Don't focus on your weight because it really doesn't mean much and muscle is denser than fat meaning that you could be getting leaner but could be actually heavier.
  • Get a workout buddy! Then you can motivate each other and encourage each other not to skip a workout.
  • Don't get too stressed out if you do miss a workout, it's not huge problem and won't affect your progress!
  • Buy new workout gear! I find this always helps because I can not wait to wear it!
  • Don't make it a short term fix, make it a lifestyle change.
  • Make sure you're doing something you enjoy and have things that make it more enjoyable e.g. a great workout playlist.
  • Don't use other people's bodies as you're only motivation/goals, you will never look like them but you can look like a better version of you!
  • Do this for yourself, not for anyone else.
For now, thank you and goodbye,

Fitness Wishlist

As I have said in many posts before, fitness is a big part of my life and I am always on the lookout for new workout clothes.

I have found that buying new workout gear always motivates me if I'm ever feeling a bit low or have a lack of motivation.

When I first started working out properly, I thought that to look the part you had to wear expensive Nike clothes and trainers, but obviously I learned that, that is just what those companies want you to believe and that you can get loads of nice clothes for so much cheaper!

Here are some of the items that I want/will be buying soon!
